Falling In Love With Rome

Rome

It took me a while to get started on a post about our trip to Rome, simply because I had no idea how to put the immense beauty and charm into words. Certainly it has been done before, by writers far more eloquent than me. In the end I figured that everyone’s perspective is different […]

Colosseo Rome Reflection

So I just got back from Rome with a head full of ideas, a memory card full of photo’s and a lot of inspiration. But before making an attempt at trying to put down in words just how beautiful the city of Rome is (and how damn good the pizza was), I figured it’s about […]

CouchSurfing: The Benefits Of Hosting

November 26, 2012

“We don’t really have a lot of culture, here in Holland”, I heard myself saying. And I was completely convinced. Of course, we have our obvious clich├ęs: clogs and cheese, windmills and tulips, sex and marijuana. But anyone who spends longer than a week in the Netherlands knows that this has little to do with […]

The Quiet Week

November 16, 2012

I’ve been a bit off the radar this past week; no posts, no social media activity, nada. The reason behind my slacking is that I’ve been quite busy on other fronts, and sometimes you just gotta set your priorities straight. As much as I love writing, there are other important things that need to be […]

A Night in Amsterdam

Damrak Amsterdam

Amsterdam; a Walhalla for those looking to indulge in some sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll. While all of this can be quite fun from time to time, when Nick and I went out on a date last week we opted for something a little more low-key; an evening walk followed by dinner and a […]

The Truth Behind My Choices

November 5, 2012

So here we are, almost 3 months in and I feel that it's time I reveal a bit more about myself. I want this blog to reflect my personality, something that would be impossible without shedding some light on my story. Understanding my present, means you need to know about my past, and you need to see where I've come from in order to know where I'm going. Let me tell you why I quit my career... Twice.

That Time I Missed My Flight

Boarding Pass Easyjet

Missing your flight; it’s a travelers worst nightmare and recently, it became my oh so frustrating reality. The worst thing? I have no one to blame but myself. After one last sea-side dinner, our romantic week in Barcelona was coming to an end. Earlier that afternoon, I had spent an hour researching how and when […]

Wednesday Wishes: Lyon

Lyon by night

After the last Wednesday Wishes post about Singapore, I got excited about the idea of guest posting. Having a local like Sam write about his hometown casts a different light on the destination and makes for an interesting read. So for this week, I’ve asked one of my friends (and fellow newbie blogger) to write […]

How To Save Up For An Extended Trip -Part 2

October 26, 2012

Since last week’s post on how I was able to save up for my trips was getting a little long, I figured I’d just do a follow-up. Last week I explained that to live the lifestyle I wanted, I had to make some drastic changes in my habits and behavior, like: Creating a budget Selling […]

Patience Is A Virtue

October 23, 2012

I'm writing to you from the comforts of my own home, cosy and pleasant. It's that time of year again. You know; the leaves turn red and golden and start to fall from the trees, it gets a little chilly and the air is crisp. It's that time when it's not yet cold enough for a winter jacket but a scarf would be much appreciated. It's a time for long walks in the forest, for raking leaves off your lawn and for knitting scarves. Okay, maybe that's a little too traditional. What can I say? Autumn melancholy is kicking in, hard.
